The Zone Diet

The Zone, like the Atkins Diet, stresses increased protein and reduced carbohydrate consumption. However, unlike Atkins, The Zone allows you to eat much greater amounts of carbohydrates and limits portion size to a much greater extent. In that it affords greater variety and stresses vegetable consumption, many view The Zone as a more balanced approach tot he high-protein weight loss approach.

The same thing that makes The Zone simple to follow might make it unappealing for some dieters. Not only is portion size limited, but in addition meals are highly similar from meal to meal and day to day. For those who prefer flexibility or like to "listen to their bodies" (i.e. eat more when they are hungrier, less when they are not) this may not be the ideal approach. For others who want a fixed, prescribed plan that they don't have to think about, it may be better. While it will take a little time to get used to the food proportions in The Zone, once you have they are the same throughout.
